Dan Franko has spent the last three decades popping up on screens and stages across the DMV - usually doing something memorable, occasionally doing something ridiculous, and always having a blast.
Audiences may know him as Eric, the sneezing “shitgibbon” from Season 1 of HBO’s Veep, or as Barney, the unexpectedly “sexy‑dancing” office worker in the cult‑favorite horror‑comedy The Night Watchmen.
His film and TV adventures also include leading the award‑winning noir short The Recursion Theorem, touring the streets of The Wire with Mayor Carcetti (Aidan Gillen), navigating the political underbelly of House of Cards, appearing in two segments of A Comedy of Horrors, Volume 1, and staring down the Farrell Clan on WGN America’s Outsiders.
After Covid, Dan returned to his first love, live theater, where he’s been happily chewing scenery ever since. Recent roles range from the doomed Scottish king in Macbeth, to literally making an “ass” of himself as Bottom the Weaver in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to joining the cast of Becky’s New Car under the direction of the incomparable Rain Pryor.
Whether he ’s sneezing, dancing, ruling, or braying, Dan brings the same thing to every project: heart, humor, and a knack for stealing scenes in the best possible way.
